Music Room: Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how “Music Room” (the “App”) handles information when you use it inside Zoom or in a web browser. Music Room is built to need almost no information about you: its tools run in the App itself, and it has no user accounts, no database of personal data, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking.
1. Data We Do NOT Collect
- No Audio, Video or Meeting Content: The App does not access your microphone or camera, and does not see, record, or store meeting audio, video, chat, recordings, or transcripts.
- No Meeting Metadata: We do not collect or store meeting titles, participant lists, or chat logs.
- No Accounts or Profiles: The App does not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal details, and does not build a profile of you.
- No Saved Settings: Your choices in the tools (such as the selected scale, key, chord, or tempo) exist only while the App is open and are not saved.
2. Information Handled to Run the App
- Zoom App Context: When you open Music Room inside Zoom, Zoom provides the App with an encrypted context that includes technical identifiers such as your Zoom user ID, the meeting’s ID, and your role in the meeting. The App uses this only to confirm it is running inside Zoom and, when Collaborate is used, to connect participants in the same meeting. It is not stored; the meeting’s ID is used only as a temporary label for the collaboration session described below.
- Collaboration Data: When participants collaborate in the App, the App’s own state (for example, which tool is open and which key is selected) passes through our server to the other participants in the same meeting. This contains no personal information, is held only in temporary memory, and is deleted within minutes after the last participant leaves.
- Installation: When you add the App, Zoom issues an authorization that is used once to complete installation, and is never stored. A small, signed cookie protects the sign-in step; it contains only random security values and is deleted as soon as installation finishes.
- Server Logs: Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical request information (such as IP address, date and time, and the web address requested, which for collaboration connections includes only an encrypted session code) for security and troubleshooting. These logs are kept for a short period set by our hosting provider.
3. Third-Party Data Sharing
The App works with Zoom Video Communications, Inc. to run inside Zoom, and is hosted by Render, our hosting provider. No data is sold to, or shared with, anyone else. If you choose to leave an optional tip, the payment is handled securely by Stripe; we do not see or store your card details.
4. Data Subject Rights (Your Rights)
We respect your rights regarding your data. Because the App does not store personal data about you, there is nothing held about you to access or delete. You remain in full control:
- Right to Revoke: You may remove the App and revoke its access to your Zoom account at any time via the Zoom App Marketplace “Manage” section.
- Tips: If you left a tip, Stripe keeps the transaction record. Contact us for any questions about it.
5. Data Retention
We retain no personal user data on our infrastructure. Collaboration data is deleted within minutes after a session ends, and server logs are kept only for the short period described above.
6. Children
Music Room is used in music lessons, including by students of all ages. The App does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, and students can use every tool without providing any information.
