Altia Systems Announces PanaCast Experience Now Integrates with Microsoft Lync, Skype for Business, Pilot Tested by Intel & JDSU

PanaCast enables a 200º Personal Panoramic Video in Lync; Participants Can “Look Around” as if Actually in the Remote Meeting Locations
ltia Systems® – the leader in personal panoramic video – today announced that PanaCast® Experience, the award-winning system for video and desktop collaboration, now works with Microsoft® Lync® recently named Skype™ for Business. The solution has been successfully pilot-tested by Intel® and JDSU™ and has proven to be a major productivity tool for remote teams. Further details and pricing may be found at

PanaCast Experience is a disruptive video solution that gives Microsoft Lync/Skype for Business users a fully-immersive video perspective from all the PanaCast cameras in a Lync/Skype for Business meeting, letting them see everything in the meeting rooms as if they were there in person. Participants can virtually “look around” the room by navigating through the PanaCast video streams with familiar multi-touch gestures on their personal devices to create their own views from anywhere there is an Internet connection. In real time, they can scan across the room to see who is there or focus in on the whiteboard or speaker – just as they would do if they were physically present in the meeting. PanaCast Experience is available for Apple® iOS™ and Google® Android® smart phones or tablets, as well as Microsoft® Windows® and Mac® OS X® PCs.

“Video is now an established component of unified communications (UC) solutions and, increasingly, enterprises want to leverage video for more than just conversation and conferencing,” said Robert Mason, Managing VP at Gartner Inc. and Whit Andrews, VP Distinguished Analyst, at Gartner Inc. in the August 2014 report, IT Market Clock for Enterprise Video, 2014.

The PanaCast UX/UI is familiar to Lync users: cameras are assigned Microsoft Lync IDs and can be added to “Meet Now” or scheduled conferences, just like other Lync users. The PanaCast Experience consists of PanaCast cameras, an on-premises or cloud-based PanaCast Video Server (PVS) and PanaCast Apps installed on client PCs and smartphones. Any session can run up to 5 cameras with 50 concurrent participants, each of whom can “look around” on their own without disturbing others.

Enterprise Customer Adoption
Several Enterprise customers have projects underway with PanaCast Experience and Microsoft Lync/Skype for Business to improve productivity, with the goal of campus-wide deployment.

Intel®, a world leader in computing innovation, is piloting the new solution within their R&D organization to improve daily collaboration among teams working worldwide. JDSU, innovator of the highest-performing and highest-value networks in the world, is deploying the solution for every day development and business meetings to enhance productivity between teams in Silicon Valley and the Midwest.

“Intel is doing an engineering pilot with Altia Systems’ PanaCast Experience which makes remote participants in Microsoft Lync meetings more engaged and more productive,” said Praveen Vishakantaiah VP/GM Client Research and Development Group at Intel. “Intel is working closely with Altia Systems to help define their next generation product, optimized with Intel® Core processor based PCs and Intel® Xeon® servers, to improve the solution experience, simplify deployment and reduce TCO.”

“At JDSU, we believe that high-quality video is an essential part of a productive collaboration environment,“ said Massimo Rapparini CIO at JDSU. “PanaCast Experience adds a natural visual perspective and personal control for each participant to our Lync meetings, enabling them to engage fully. It’s an easy-to-use and cost-effective addition to Lync, allowing us to deploy it broadly across the enterprise.”
