Panoramic field of view enables remote participants to see entire workspace, delivering an exceptionally clear video with a natural human visual perspective
February 1, 2016, Cupertino, CA — PanaCast® 2, the world’s first Panoramic-4K real-time video camera, has been named a 2015 GOOD DESIGN™ award winner in electronics for design excellence. The award – the oldest and most recognized program for design excellence worldwide – is presented by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies.
PanaCast 2 is the world’s first Panoramic-4K Plug-and-Play USB video camera. Among its first applications are group-to-group or group-to-one video communications focused on over 30 million huddle spaces being rapidly adopted by visual millennials in the workplace. With its 180° wide, 54° tall field of view and Panoramic-4K resolution (3840X1080), PanaCast 2 delivers exceptionally clear video with a natural human visual perspective delivered in real-time, helping people collaborate more effectively, improving productivity.
“We are delighted to be honored by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design for our PanaCast 2 camera,” said Yash Gupta, Director of Engineering at Altia Systems. “PanaCast 2 helps people communicate electronically in a natural and immersive way, improving their everyday work life, and we are pleased that the distinguished GOOD DESIGN jurists have chosen to recognize it.”
“PanaCast 2 has a simple, clean and elegant design which is aesthetically pleasing. It invites people to touch it, operate it, and keep it with themselves as a personal go-anywhere way to communicate in our modern, networked world,” said Otto Sponring, Lead Camera Designer. “Underlying the simple exterior is the complexity of a multi-camera design that balances optical precision with state-of-the-art electronic system design and integration.”
PanaCast 2 was selected this year from several thousand submissions from 47 countries. The GOOD DESIGN Awards are presented each year to the most innovative industrial, product and graphic designs produced around the world.
