Avaya Scopia provides comfort to families through seamless conferencing

Offering video conferencing for families is not a new concept for HUG. However, their previous system consisted of only one pair of laptops (one for each side of the call), which led to difficulties when new users had to familiarize with the functionalities. At such a difficult and emotional time for families, having to wrench their focus away from their babies was an integral factor behind deciding to switch to a new video conferencing system. In addition, mothers are often discharged before their babies, and a lack of contact makes such a sensitive time even more stressful.
Since the installation of Avaya Scopia, families have been able to watch their babies in the Neonatal Unit in real-time; while it may be a small gesture, these sort of actions make all the difference for those having to go through the ICU experience.
