Blue Jeans enhances user experience and brings together customer experts to solve problems and share ideas

New platform breathes life into industry-wide conversation on video conferencing and collaboration

July 01, 2014—Mountain View, Calif.Blue Jeans Network, the global leader in interoperable video collaboration services, today introduced its online forum for industry collaboration and customer advocacy. The Blue Jeans Community platform gives people direct access to one another as well as to engineers, product developers, and executives within Blue Jeans Network. The community serves as a hub for both customers and the larger industry to propose new product ideas, directly share product feedback, request support and engage with individuals who have a unique expertise and want to share their knowledge.

“Plenty of forums put people in touch with troubleshooting customer-service reps, but very few place an emphasis on peer to peer interactions and direct access to experts deep within the company and community,” said Stu Aaron, CCO of Blue Jeans Network. “We respect our customers as industry luminaries who have a lot to contribute to shaping the future of video conferencing technology.”

Blue Jeans’ new community is a significant addition to the existing customer service and support channels already in place and will further extend touch points for our customers. A powerful component of the new community is customers’ ability to interact with each other. Collaboration ranges from technical relief, best practices, deployment strategies and methods, which custom room system set ups work best, and more.

The community also provides ways for customers to directly interact with Blue Jeans executives and engineering teams and give feedback on product features. Eighty-three percent of the conversations are focused on new ideas, industry insights and knowledge sharing discussions. Of direct product/feature ideas, to date 78 percent of them have been considered or planned for future product releases. Wikia, a Blue Jeans customer champion, used the forum to praise product innovations, specifically new large-meeting features: “It may have been a leap of faith to run our most important meeting on a feature still in beta, but our faith was well rewarded.”

The Blue Jeans Community helps take the conversation deeper with live round tables. Every month, Blue Jeans will host Couch Chat, a video call with CEO Krish Ramakrishnan, for an intimate discussion on industry topics. Join Blue Jeans on July 9 for the first Couch Chat on “Shifting Your Company to a Video Culture – From Traditional Web Conferencing.”

“The Blue Jeans community has been a great additional – and free – resource for soliciting feedback on product ideas, best practices and deployment strategies,” said Ashley Azzopardi, principal advanced communications engineer at Red Hat, a leading open source software provider and Blue Jeans customer. “At Red Hat, we value open collaboration, and that’s just what Blue Jeans provides through direct access to Blue Jeans experts and other knowledgeable advocates.”

The new community is part of Blue Jeans overarching strategy to expand its portfolio and enable more effective collaboration for businesses, while keeping the customer at the center of the conversation. This past quarter, the company released new recording and large-meeting capabilities, allowing customers to host meetings with up to 100 participants as well as providing new record-and-share features. A majority of professionals prefer that all their online or remote meetings include face-to-face video of meeting participants, according to a national Blue Jeans survey.
