IBM Buys Ustream, Launches Cloud Video Service

This week in UC news, IBM has acquired Ustream and added cloud-based video to its cloud service portfolio, while a survey found the hosted PBX market is steadily growing.

IBM is expanding its cloud services with the acquisition of cloud-based video streaming provider Ustream.

IBM has added a cloud video service unit to its cloud portfolio that will offer open API development, digital and visual analytics, and simplified management. IBM created the unit to meet enterprise needs for a secure and scalable cloud-based platform to manage their video services. The new cloud video service will combine technology from Ustream and from multiscreen video service provider Clearleap, which IBM acquired in December.
