Story by Andrew Davis, Wainhouse Research
As we reported earlier this year, Lifesize made a strategic decision to focus on cloud services, a business the company launched much earlier and strengthened via acquisitions. The company has since put all its eggs in the cloud basket, de-emphasizing its hardware portfolio almost completely. A few weeks back Lifesize took the latest step with a massive layoff to bring its staffing and skill-set more in line with that of a cloud company rather than that of a video conferencing device manufacturer. Logitech, in turn, took a large hit by writing down the value of its Lifesize assets. That, and other moves alluded to in public statements, have together fueled the rumor that Logitech will spin off or sell Lifesize entirely.
