September 15, 2014, London, UK – Ricoh Europe has today announced the launch of the Ricoh P3500 Unified Communication System, an innovative conferencing solution integrating video, audio, text and interactive media. The P3500 does not require a dedicated video conference room because it is a lightweight device with an A4 footprint that can utilise an internet connection to link up to 20 sites at once.
The P3500 can be carried easily for collaborative meetings, providing users with secure, high quality, multi-site video conferencing for a fraction of the cost of conventional fixed-room video conferencing systems. For maximum flexibility network connection can be wired or Wi-Fi.
The embedded HD camera allows more natural one-to-one conversation and the 125° wide-angle camera fits everyone easily into the frame, with a 4X digital zoom function allowing close-up focusing on individuals if required. HD picture quality is assured throughout conferences because the innovative P3500 uses H.264/SVC to give smooth, high quality video streaming with automatic control of resolution and frame rate. HDMI in/out connectivity allows high quality HD image presentation using a wide choice of display monitors.
Outstanding video quality is matched by high quality speaker and microphone technology, producing clear and audible speech. For larger conferences external microphone, speakers and cameras can be connected, making the P3500 a scalable conferencing solution. The remote control operation of the P3500 also makes it easy to manage video conferences including large group sessions.
The P3500 can integrate PC data so that participants can share displays of spreadsheets, text documents and other data for interactive multimedia conference sessions. Audio and video data encryption ensures secure conference sessions protecting sensitive information. Both the camera and the microphone can also be turned-off remotely should confidentiality be needed during a conference call.
“This flexible and versatile video conferencing system allows video conferences to be set up quickly with the minimum of complexity and cost”, said Mai Kurokawa, Product Manager for Ricoh Europe. “As it is a highly portable unit, any meeting room or office can be used for video conferencing with simple start-up. The P3500 will cut travel costs and increase business efficiency and productivity for our customers.”
