Story by Nancy Knowlton, Nureva
You likely have been in an ideation session with the objective of generating ideas, probably many times. You walk into a room and are handed some pads of sticky notes and a marker. You and the other attendees are given some instructions about the task at hand, and then you are given time to start putting your ideas down on those sticky notes, one idea per note. After an appropriate amount of time, everyone gets up out of their chairs and puts their points under various headings on a wall or whiteboard. Then as a group exercise, ideas are bucketed and clustered. Refinement proceeds with sticky notes being moved and reorganized, often as a result of vigorous input and debate.
