TELEMEDICINE SAVINGS REPORT DUE TODAY: The Alliance for Connect Care, the telemedicine lobbying group formed earlier this year, is releasing an actuarial study it commissioned on the technology’s potential savings for Medicare today. The study combined data from five commercial telemedicine companies and extrapolated its potential impact. The Alliance and its member companies are lobbying Congress to free Medicare reimbursement, but first they have to convince the Congressional Budget Office that telemedicine can save money. Telemedicine backers are having some success along one avenue of adoption: Insurance commissioners appear receptive to allowing health plans to use the technology to help them meet quotas for the medical services they are required to provide. Pros can read more here:
