American Telemedicine Association’s policy duo Jonathan Linkous, CEO and Gary Capistrant, Senior Director of Public Policy, return with updates and new information regarding telemedicine for the month of October.

What’s New with ATA

  • The ATA is continuously developing a set of comprehensive standards and guidelines for telemedicine. Most recently the ATA produced practice guidelines for intensive care units that were approved by the Society of Critical Care and Medicine, and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Additionally the ATA Clinical Guidelines for Telepathology were approved by the Digital Pathology Association. The ATA is currently working on guidelines for the following; telestroke, pediatrics and mental health for children and primary and urgent care guidelines.
  • The 20th Annual Telemedicine Meeting and Trade Show is scheduled for May 3 – 5, 2015 in Los Angeles. The ATA has reviewed proposals for presentations and has begun announcing keynotes starting with Patrick Soon-Shiong, a notably successful surgeon, drug developer, entrepreneur and commonly referred to as the richest man in American medicine.
  • The ATA 2014 Fall Forum Recordings and presentation slides are now available in the learning center. They can be viewed here.
  • The ATA is pleased to announce there are 8,300 members of the ATA with over 20% growth in the last year alone inclusive of over 150
    medical institutions and over 160 companies.
