TrueConf Now Supports Up to 25 Simultaneous Participants in Video Conferences

TrueConf now supports up to 25 simultaneous participants on-screen in multipoint video conferences. TrueConf Server users can now collaborate on projects in large teams while seeing and hearing each other.

May 26 2015, Moscow – Client applications by TrueConf allow users to conduct group video conferences in various modes which can host up to several hundred participants. After the release of TrueConf Server 4.3.1, customers got the ability to increase the number of simultaneous on-screen participants from 16 to 25 in a single group conference. During such conferences, all the participants can interact with each other simultaneously and use collaboration tools such as Instant Messaging, Desktop Sharing, Slideshow and Recording.

With the advent of UltraHD video conferencing and wide 4K screens, a demand for increasing the number of participants on screen has emerged. In the last six months we have supported this feature on all our client applications, and now we have made it available for the users of our video conferencing server,” says Michael Gotalsky, TrueConf CEO.

“25 on-screen users is the highest number among all the SVC-based software video conferencing systems on the market. The target audience for such video conferencing capabilities may be governmental institutions of various levels that use video conferencing in situational centers.”

Video conferencing for 25 simultaneous participants increases the load on the CPU. TrueConf developers have optimized the data transfer and decoding process on Intel chipsets and for their built-in graphic co-processors. The optimization allows users of regular PCs equipped with modern chipsets to participate in big conferences.

The new feature is available to users of all popular TrueConf client applications for Windows, Linux, and OS X. In client applications for mobile devices, TrueConf for iOS and TrueConf for Android, the number of visible participants is defined automatically based on the device’s performance and is limited to 9 participants on-screen.

Igor Spirin, Director of IT Department at Investtorgbank, has found this feature beneficial for business. “Investtorgbank is a universal bank of commerce with departments in more than 60 cities in Russia, from Saint Petersburg to Khabarovsk. We have more than 100 offices and our geographical presence expands constantly. For us, a video conferencing system is a modern and indispensable technical solution which allows us to stay constantly in touch with any bank’s office, and resolve a whole range of business objectives.”

“We think that deploying a video conferencing system will give us an opportunity to sufficiently decrease costs arising under intercity negotiations, to conduct more productive meetings, especially in 25-on-25 mode, and to cut the number of business trips,” Mr. Spirin said.
