Opens the floodgates for affordable business quality videoconferencing in Asia Pacific
September 23rd, 2014, Oslo, Norway – Cloud video services provider, Videxio, today announced the opening of offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, China. Videxio already has offices throughout Europe and the US, serving Videxio users in more than 6000 cities in 120 countries. With the huge market potential for videoconferencing-as-a-service (VCaaS), establishing a strong presence in the greater China region was the natural first choice for expansion into Asia Pacific. IT industry veterans with a wealth of experience from companies such as BT China, Cisco, Microsoft and H3C, will lead the team. The Videxio video cloud is simple and cost effective to set up and scale. As a result, Videxio will be able to put business quality videoconferencing within the reach of millions of businesses throughout China, as well as North American and European organizations that need to communicate with their Chinese business partners.
In addition to the new sales and support offices, Videxio will extend their coverage in China by establishing several new Points of Presence (PoPs) as well as several private PoPs for local service providers. A PoP is a data center that ensures a guaranteed top quality video network. The first PoP on mainland China will be operational in October. With Videxio’s smart roaming feature, any video system, software video client or mobile device will connect to the closest Chinese PoP, ensuring that customers will enjoy the best quality video experience at all times. Extending their coverage in China builds on Videxio’s customer promise to offer high quality videoconferencing-as-a-service across the globe.
“With the increasing urbanization and large geographical distances in China, we see a huge potential for cloud video services and we are delighted to have an experienced team working for us locally,” says Henning Herdal, President Videxio EMEA & APAC. “With a strong management group including Tim Yue, Henry Woo, Percy Tsang, Judson Sun, Victor Guo, and Raymond Chen, we have put in place a team with outstanding technical competence, contact network, business acumen and experience in establishing a partner reseller network, making us confident about the success of our Chinese operations. Videxio is sold through channel partners and the Chinese team have already recruited some top notch partners to start selling the Videxio service.”
According to Paal Braathen, Commercial Consul and Director at Innovation Norway in Shanghai, “This is the right time for a cloud video company like Videxio to enter the Chinese market. China is set to become the world’s largest economy by 2020 (PWC) and already 22% of the world’s internet users are in China. Many of these users access the internet through a mobile phone or tablet device. Videxio’s service lets users connect on video using different devices and does not require large scale infrastructure investment, making it highly scalable at a reasonable price point, a factor which is important in the Chinese market.”
The official opening of the main Videxio offices in China will take place on September 23rd in Shanghai and on September 25th in Hong Kong.
